4214-11 Vehicle Painter
Preparing surfaces of vehicles, matching and mixing colours and applying paint.
4214-11 Vehicle Painter Skill Level:
An AQF Certificate III or higher qualification is required. Registration or licensing may be required.
4214-11 Vehicle Painter Tasks Include:
- removing rough spots on vehicle panels
- sanding surfaces by hand or with power sanders
- covering area not to be painted with masking tape and paper
- colouring matches and mixing paints to match paint shades, or selecting pre-mixed paint
- applying primer and finish coats using spray guns, and rubbing down surfaces between coats
- touching up paintwork and applying polish to vehicles
- removing masking papers, waxing and polishing finished paintwork
- may be painting signs or artwork on vehicles
- may be treating vehicles with rust-proofing chemicals
