4213-11 Panel Beater
Vehicle Refinisher
Repairing damage to metal body work on vehicles and forming replacement vehicle panels.
4213-11 Panel Beater Skill Level:
An AQF Certificate III or higher qualification is required. Registration or licensing may be required.
4213-11 Panel Beater Tasks Include:
- removing damaged panels and parts, or removing upholstery and accessories to gain access
- using panel-beating hammers to remove dents
- straightening damaged vehicles and parts using mechanical and hydraulic equipment
- filling depressions with plastic filler, and filing, grinding and sanding repaired surfaces
- repairing panels by welding on new sections
- may be assisting vehicle body builders in constructing or restoring custom-designed, vintage or other specialty vehicles
- may be spray-painting vehicles
- may be forming panels using metal presses, guillotines and cutters, according to dimensional drawings
