4115-21 Engraver
Inscribing letters, figures and designs on metal, glass, wood, rubber, plastic and other surfaces.
4115-21 Engraver Skill Level:
An AQF Certificate III or higher qualification is required.
4115-21 Engraver Tasks Include:
- laying out lettering or designing on objects by sketching on paper or in powder on the objects to be engraved
- marking outlines of designs using scribers, mounts objects in vices and cutting designs with engraving tools
- cleaning and polishing engraved areas
- may be sketching original designs or copying sketches or photographs
- may be brushing powder or solutions on to surfaces of dies or plates which imprint designs
- may be using pantographs to enlarge or reduce designs
- may be operating engraving machines to cut standard designs
