Installing and maintaining locks and related security devices and systems.
4115-15 Locksmith Skill Level:
An AQF Certificate III or higher qualification is required. Registration or licensing is required.
4115-15 Locksmith Tasks Include:
- determining customer's security requirements by discussion and site inspection
- designing or recommending security and locking systems
- fitting and installing locks and security systems and devices
- diagnosing, modifing, repairing or replacing locks and security systems and devices
- testing performance of locks and security systems
- cutting new or duplicating keys for locks and other security systems and devices
- opening locked safes, doors or padlocks by manipulation
- may be installing and repairing computerised security systems and devices
- may be keeping records of specifications of installed locking systems
