4114-13 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Structures)
Inspecting, disassembling and reassembling aircraft structures, and repairing and replacing components of aircraft frames.
4114-13 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Structures) Skill Level:
An AQF Certificate III or higher qualification is required. Registration or licensing is required.
4114-13 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Structures) Tasks Include:
- positioning parts and sub-assembling such as fuselage, wing or tail components, fuel tanks, landing gear, safety systems and internal fittings on working surfaces, part-assembled airframes or assembly jigs, using hoists
- laying out and marking reference points or guidelines, and aligning parts
- assembling parts and sub-assembling
- supervising welding of components
- verifying alignments, clearances and quality of finish after final assembly, by visual inspection and measurement, and rectifying faults
- replacing and repairing worn and damaged structural parts
- maintaining records of action taken
