3993-23 Swimming Coach
Coaches, trains and instructs swimmers by analysing their performances and developing their abilities.
3993-23 Swimming Coach Skill Level:
An AQF Diploma or higher qualification or at least 3 years relevant experience is required. Sometimes relevant experience is required as well as, or in place of, formal qualifications or experience. Registration or licensing is required.
3993-23 Swimming Coach Tasks Include:
- observing performances of swimmers
- coaching or instructing swimmers by demonstrating techniques
- overseeing training and evaluating swimmers' physical condition
- prescribing routines and corrective exercises to strengthen muscles and improve fitness
- planning race strategies, analysing race progress, motivating and instructing swimmers
- conducting after-race analysis, evaluating performances and making changes in strategy
- may be teaching water confidence and water awareness to children and non-swimmers
- may be organising facilities for learn-to-swim classes
- may be recommending special diets
- may be rendering first aid to injured persons
