3322-01 Head Chef Skill Level:
An AQF Diploma or higher qualification or at least 3 years relevant experience is required. Sometimes relevant experience is required in addition to the formal qualification.
3322-01 Head Chef Tasks Include:
- planning menus and advises chefs and cooks on sizes of portions and servings
- reviewing labour and food costs and arranges menus according to budgets
- conferring with customers regarding plans for special occasions, such as weddings and banquets
- arranging for equipment purchases and repairs
- examining supplies of foodstuffs to ensure quality
- consulting with establishment management to discuss problems and plans
- demonstrating techniques and advises on cooking procedures
- may be performing the tasks of a Chef
