Mechanical Engineering Technical Officer
Preparing drawings and planning of mechanical engineering work and collecting and analysing data in support of
Mechanical Engineers.
3125-11 Mechanical Engineering Associate Skill Level:
An AQF Diploma or higher qualification or at least 3 years relevant experience is required. Sometimes experience is required in addition to the formal qualification. Registration or licensing may be required.
3125-11 Mechanical Engineering Associate Tasks Include:
- assisting mechanical engineers and engineering technologists in the design of mechanical equipment and plant
- ensuring that designs and finished work are within specifications, regulations and contract provisions
- performing or directs field and laboratory testing
- collecting and analysing data, carrying out complex computations and preparing diagrams
- preparing drawings, planning and designing for mechanical engineering work under the direction of mechanical engineers and engineering technologists
- estimating material costs, quantities and machinery requirements
- selecting tools and equipment
- organising and supervising inspection and maintenance of machinery and plant
