3122-13 Civil Engineering Technician
Conducting tests of construction materials and prepares sketches and tabulations in support of
Civil Engineers and
Civil Engineering Associates.
3122-13 Civil Engineering Technician Skill Level:
An AQF Certificate IV or higher qualification or at least 3 years relevant experience is required. Sometimes relevant experience is required in addition to the formal qualification. Registration or licensing may be required.
3122-13 Civil Engineering Technician Tasks Include:
- interpreting work assignment instructions, applying appropriate procedures and selecting equipment under the direction of civil engineers, engineering technologists and engineering associates
- conducting field and laboratory tests of construction materials and soils, and collecting data for traffic surveys
- preparing computations, sketches, charts and tabulations for civil engineering works such as drainage, water supply, sewage reticulation systems, roads, airports, dams, bridges and other structures
