2299-17 Policy Analyst
Policy Advisor
Analysing and advising on policies guiding the design, implementation and modification of government and commercial operations and programs.
2299-17 Policy Analyst Skill Level:
A bachelor degree or higher qualification or at least 5 years relevant experience is required. In some instances relevant experience is required in addition to the formal qualification.
2299-17 Policy Analyst Tasks Include:
- reviewing existing policies and legislation to identify anomalies and out-of-date provisions
- researching social, economic and industrial trends and client expectations of programs and services provided
- formulating and analysing policy options, and advising on preferred options
- assessing the financial implications and equitable impact of policies
- liaising and consulting with program administrators and other interested parties to identify policy needs
- preparing briefing papers and recommendations for policy changes
- may be preparing and maintain policy and procedures manuals
- may be advising managers or politicians on lobbying
