Collecting, organising and interpreting quantifiable data and using statistical methodologies to produce statistical reports and analyses for government, commercial and other planning purposes.
2293-13 Statistician Skill Level:
A bachelor degree or higher qualification is required. In some instances relevant experience is required in addition to the formal qualification.
2293-13 Statistician Tasks Include:
- Liaising with management and clients to determine the area to be surveyed or examined
- specifying the data to be collected and the methodology to be used in collection and analysis
- assisting with the selection or development of data collection instruments such as survey questionnaires
- reporting on findings, arranging presentation of results
- evaluating and describing the reliability and utility of source information in forms such as summary tables, graphs and charts
- reporting significant differences in relationships among sources of data
- may be assisting in the development of statistical computer programs
