2292-11 Librarian
Developing, organising and maintaining library services including collections of information, recreational resources and reader information services.
2292-11 Librarian Skill Level:
A bachelor degree or higher qualification is required. In some instances relevant experience is required in addition to the formal qualification. Registration or licensing may be required.
2292-11 Librarian Tasks Include:
- making recommendations on library policies and services and implementing policy decisions
- examining publications and materials, interviewing publishers' representatives and consulting with others to select library materials
- reviewing, evaluating and modifying services in response to user needs
- providing assistance to clients in accessing library resources
- undertaking information research activities on behalf of clients
- managing the organisation's central records system and supervising indexing, filing and retrieval activities
- selecting, ordering, classifying and cataloguing materials
- managing inter-library loan systems and information networks
- monitoring collection development and culling programs
- may be planning and directing library promotion and outreaching activities
- may be supervising and training library staff
