2231-19 Systems Programmer
Writing, maintaining and updating programs which control the overall functioning of computers.
2231-19 Systems Programmer Skill Level:
A bachelor degree or higher qualification or at least 5 years relevant experience is required. In some instances relevant experience is required in addition to the formal qualification.
2231-19 Systems Programmer Tasks Include:
- developing specifications for enhancements in the operation of computer and telecommunications system software
- determining program design, and writing system programs in computer languages or machine code
- testing the validity and logic of system programs
- modifying, amending and updating software programs and database structures
- preparing documentation on the use of system software by other information technology personnel
- may be contributing to the development of new software in a mainframe, personal computer or local area network environment
