Marine Biologist
Studying the anatomy, physiology, characteristics and environments of marine animals and plants.
2113-19 Marine Biologist Skill Level:
A bachelor degree or higher qualification is required. In some instances relevant experience is required in addition to the formal qualification.
2113-19 Marine Biologist Tasks Include:
- planning and undertaking experiments to study, measure and understand marine animals and plants
- examining the relationships between marine animals, plants and water quality factors such as salinity, temperature and oxygen content
- advising on commercial applications of marine research such as aquaculture and fisheries
- preparing or supervising the preparation of laboratory reports and scientific papers
- may be supervising technicians or other experimental staff
