A bachelor degree or higher qualification or at least 5 years relevant experience is required. In some instances relevant experience is required in addition to the formal qualification. Registration or licensing may be required.

- managing parks and wildlife conservation programs and determining priorities in relation to environment conservation
- developing and maintaining relationships with the community, government and environmental groups
- planning the management of new national parks and additions to existing reserves

- managing financial resources and providing budgets for proposed activities
