Planning, administering and reviewing research and development activities of an organisation.
1299-11 Research and Development Manager Skill Level:
A bachelor degree or higher qualification and at least 5 years relevant experience is required. In some instances relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification.
1299-11 Research and Development Manager Tasks Include:
- directing the formulation of research and development strategies, policies and plans
- developing and implementing programs of research projects, priorities and targets to support commercial or policy developments
- leading major research projects and coordinating activities of other research workers
- assessing the benefits and monitors the costs and effectiveness of research and development activities
- interpreting results of research projects and recommending associated product/service development innovations
- providing advice on research and development options available to the organisation
- monitoring leading edge developments in relevant disciplines and assessing implications for the organisation
- may be publishing results of significant research projects, subject to commercial sensitivity
